| So I was pondering item restrictions today and, yes this is partly self serving. I have bard levels, and I am a sneaker. Now that that's out of the way...
I realise being able to count for any class group is one of the advantages of the Harper, but I'm also wondering why it doesn't apply to Bards. Obviously bards fall into the Caster category, as they're a class that casts magic. They also fall into melee, because... Well I'm not really sure why, unless they're placed there because of cross class options. What I'm curious about is why Bards do not fall into the Sneaker class group.
It seems that a sneaker who wants to go a different route from traditional rogue or monk levels is getting the short end of the stick. I realise that it could be overpowered to let sneaker classes have access to fighter group items because they have Bard levels, which is why I was thinking that maybe they have to choose what the bard levels apply to caster/sneaker or caster/melee.
In my opinion, Bards fit more into a sneaker role than melee. They certainly can be built to be frontline combatants, but that isn't where their bard elements come into play. That's where the fighter elements join in. A bard can make quite a good sneaker by itself, without multiclassing into other sneaker types, which just makes me think that Bards should be allowed to count their levels towards the sneaker class group.

| The traditional epic level bard is actually a front line melee, with the occasional straight up archer thrown into the mix as well. Sneakers among bards in an epic environment are pretty rare.
That's not to say that a sneaking bard need be disadvantaged, though. They already get a huge boost to their hide/ms skills thanks to their own bard song, which easily covers the loss from being unable to wear sneaker gear.
Being a sneaker class as well would be largely unnecessary for them.

| *Sigh*
Ah well, guess the only levels I get to count toward gear are the Assassin ones then.

| Right... So because a bard can sing they shouldn't be a sneaker?
Besides, its inspiration, not constant singing.
Edit:
Sorry that sounds a bit rude. But yes, it's not necessarily constant singing but more inspiration drawn from a heartening tune or such.

| 9 monk, then you can actually get SD If you're being sarcastic though, there's more to it than Bard's simply being part of the sneaker class group. Anyway it doesn't matter because I have my answer | |

| Yeah, I really think evasion and improved evasion should be possible through requirements =/ But that could make some build types super OP | |

| Evasion is a "funny" thing on Anphillia.
Everyone has evasion gear and decent saves available to them, so no one casts evasion spells, so no one actually bothers to gear against evasion spells, so evasion spells are actually pretty awesome when employed with a decent DC, because, though by all rights they should be useless, they actually aren't, since everyone assumes that they are, thereby making them not.
This bit of random brought to you by the letter C.

| Danger!
You are approaching an infinite feedback loop.
Do you wish to continue?

Somewhat true... but not really. I like that evasion gear is available, was just intending to let drowess know where to look for it. - Thonil wrote:
